Honoring the past while celebrating the present was paramount while designing this rural getaway in the Hudson River Valley. Using SIP (structural insulated panel) construction, Alchemy designed a 2 BR + loft, 2 bath home using rustic yet sophisticated, functional accents including steel cross ties and reclaimed barn board interior walls. The exterior is clad in locally-sourced, painted wood. Structural insulated panels (an insulating foam core sandwiched between structural facings) are a high performance building system for residential and light commercial construction. They are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and fit nearly any building design. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. Alchemy designed and fabricated custom lighting and decorative steel columns especially for the house.
