Tree House

About the forest, built from the forest, with the health of future forests in mind.

Complex yet quiet, the house is metaphorically a box of trees carved into the forest next to Squam Lake. The project eschews the typical definition of monster lake house opulence in exchange for craft, experience, and closeness to the land on which it sits.

The low-carbon Passive House envelope and partial timber frame was prefabricated offsite using fiber-based products (and a little bit of steel). Within the white oak interior, the magic of forest light is created by digitally fabricated trees that define spaces.

The Tree House embraces technology layered with craft, addressing systemic design and fabrication challenges.
