A Tahoe weeHouse / Tree House

With a modular set occurring in-between blizzards, the Saddlehorn weeHouse stands tall among the pines. The membrane roof supports extreme 175# psf snow loads (tested by a 3’ dump, 4 days after delivery). Climbing through the loft-like house takes place via an industrial steel and wood stairway with windows that frame the trees. A steel corner deck hangs amid the shelter of the evergreens providing views of the lake and the mountain. The prefabricated shotgun 2-car garage forms a long north wall to the site, and connects to the house by a short bridge. Another longer bridge through the woods is a “dock” entrance and seating area.

Steel columns – sawn, hydraulically split, with expressive lasercut capitals – were crafted by Alchemy.
