The design takes its cue from the local farmhouse aesthetic. Alchemy renovated the exterior walls with durable galvalume and stained cedar corncrib siding, increasing efficiency and expressing an honest use of materials. An open porch wraps the southern face of the home, and extends it into the landscape much like a land-locked dock.

Graphic alchemy helps transform the formerly bland suburban envelope. The center is a bright red venetian plaster dining alcove. A huge hot rolled steel truss holds up the roof, a ribbon accents the stair, and abstract birch bark steel overlays define the fireplace and kitchen shelves.
