Having lived around the word, the Owners of this 1880’s house wanted to create a space with maximum sleeping rooms and minimum, but comfortable, public spaces. The solution? A pod hotel! Alchemy leveraged its barnHouse work to create panelized, insulated, plywood SIP shells for form stackable rooms. Placed inside the tall rooms of the house, the shells become sleeping rooms, some with private, some with common bathrooms, all with a sense of luxury-in-less (space). When the City prohibited the Owners’ desired density, the Project was simplified, and became a boutique hotel using the same iconography.
